Grown in Volcanic Soil, Sumatra Coffee is an Eruption of Flavour
Sumatra is Indonesia’s largest island. The rich, fertile volcanic soil and elevation of 1200m creates a great growing environment for these beans. Sumatra coffee is dark and smooth with low acidity. The low acidity is due to its wet processing. Wet processing involves depulping the cherries and then placing them in a sack to ferment overnight. The next day, the pulp is removed by hand and the beans are dried. Compared to washed and dried coffee, wet processing changes the flavour to have more pronounced earthy flavour with low acidity. It’s easily one of our favourite single-origin coffees.
